Hi mike.
This is really amazing story of searching and lifting up of the remains of Boris Lazarev.
The bog preserved all the papers and even Pistol TT in excellent condition.
That’s what i found out in russian net

Who could believe this lied in bog 55 years!!!.
BTW he was piloted the Hurricane MK XII - the relatively obsolete fighter for the 1943. It had a small chances against BF109G-2 with a power guns. The soviet pilots , flying on the Lend-Lise Harricane called it as the “British Flying Coffin”.
One of others British Coffin, crushed during the landing in soviet air field.
About 3000 of such fighters were supplied to the USSR in the 1941-42.This fighter was worsen that the Soviet fighters like Jak-3 and could not even be compared with La-5/5fn.However total the lack of the fighters in first stage of war in the USSR forced the Soviets be glad for any Lend-lise supplies.
For fairness sake the Harricane was a better then the Soviet I-16 - the initial basic soviet fighter of the war.
Also this is a pleasant fact thet the Rudolf Muller - the “best Reich specialist of the shoting Harricanes down” in the Eastern North front.- he was shoted dowm by the Harricane of the commander of the 2 IAP captain Sbignev in Apr 1943.
the soviets were glad to recieve planes like the hurricane, P-39, and P-40 because they were free. Losing a free plane and a poorly-trained pilot in exchange for taking out an enemy tank, truck, or aircraft is a net gain for you.
