The “flying tigers” may have made the sharks mouth famous, but they didn’t invent it. It was used by pretty much every body that had an airforce in wwI,and on Bf 109s before the p40s in wwII
Rather on Bf-110.

In spring 1941 the Lehrgeschwader 144 swapped their Bf-109’s with Bf-110’s and the unit was integrated into Zerstörer-Geschwader 76 - as 2nd group/wing to be exact. They kept the LG-144’s insignia and were known as the “Haifischgruppe” (shark group resp. shark wing).

Why were the “flying tigers” then equipped with a “shark” mouth ?
It’s not difficult to sketch a set of tiger teeth (larger central fang).
Or perhaps the teeth of a dragon (as a service to flying in Chinese airspace) ?
Anyone info on that ?
