The Red Square at Kharkov

The Red Square at Kharkov, photo taken by a German soldier.

The modern-looking buildings and the color add to the contemporary feel of the picture. Nice finding.

At first I thought this picture was a fake, until I did a little google searching. I have seen the ‘after’ shots of this Red Square, as in after 1944. Kharkov was one of the most contested cities in WWII. It traded hands many times. In the after pictures, I was not able to find one intact window. I’d say this picture was taken in 1941.
