Troop train

This photo is from late 1944 or early 1945; unfortunately, not known if it was in eastern Hungary or beyond the border, toward the eastern front. The unit is the Royal Hungarian 101st engineering battalion (hidasz). Standing in the open door is my father, rank master seargent (fotorzsormester). In front of him, bandaged hand is a tabori csendor (military police); the one without a cap is a medical doctor; the 2 soldiers on the left are buck seargents (szakszvezeto); the 2 on the right are privates; the 3rd from the right is a seargent (ormester); it is known, that he and my father survived the war, (most likely the others too), both passed away from natural causes in 1989 (my father at age 86).

This is a companion discussion topic for the original entry at https://www.ww2incolor.com/gallery/hungarian-forces/39725/troop-train

A good quality photo and interesting details.
