U.S. Army's top sniper

Sgt. Frank Kviatek a Polish/American born in 1898,joined the U.S. Army in 1916 and his 1st duty was at the Mexican border to stop Illegal Immigration. Frank went on to serve in WW1 where he earned the nickname "Hard Tack". In between peace time Frank was a professional boxer. When WWII came Franks brothers went to the front and were killed in Sicily,Frank took an oath to kill 25 Germans for each brother - His favorite rifle was the 1903A4 snipers rifle,He was offered an M1 but refused it. Frank landed on Omaha Beach,fought throughout France killing 26 Germans,He fought the bulge bringing his kill count to 56 confirmed until he was captured and spent the rest of the war in a POW camp,Franks buddys said his 03A4 rifle looked like some wild kid took a knife to it,For each kill Frank etched a tally on the stock . When Frank was liberated he weighed 102 pounds. He was awarded the Silver star and passed away in 1960

A good story, but some corrections: The Armies expedition to the Mexican border 1916 had nothing to do with "illegal immigration". Frank had no brothers killed in service. He landed Omaha beach with the 2nd Inf Div D+1. He was captured 17 Dec 1944. He was a professional soldier, reuped after WW2 and probably retired with 30 + years service.
