I think some would say that a movie about them quite alot of recognition. If your talking about giving Maj. Winters or the whole company an award we have already discussed that in another thread.

They had a film made about them though too didn’t they?
As did the dambusters, the men who fought at River Plate, the men on hamburger hill, etc, etc.
I don’t understand why this particular group of men has attracted such attention. That they are brave and overcome such great hardships is undoubted but are they braver or have they overcome hardships that others also have surmounted?
I wonder if it is because of the type of show it was? It wasn’t just a 90 min film, it was a whole series of episodes that introduced you to the men, you bonded with them (even though they wer on screen) and went through their torment with them. Maybe that is why there is such call for them to be lionised.
