Hello, My name is Mike and I am new to this forum. I have been researching my grandfather who passed away in 1993. He served in the Navy from August 1942 until November 1945; mostly aboard the USS Augusta. I have reviewed the Augusta muster records and my grandfather was on board during Operation Overlord in 1944. I do not believe that my grandfather left the Augusta at all because his duties were on board. Would he be considered a D-Day veteran? I believe it does, but I wanted to make sure. Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from all of you. Any information would be helpful and greatly appreciated.
