V2 fired from aircraft carrier for real?

About threequarterway through the video is a package purporting to report a V2 being fired from a US carrier, is this for real?

If its after WW2 it could be, America and western allies had German technolghy by then.

Yes. The carrier was the USS Midway, and the launch took place on the September 6, 1947. The experiment wasn’t a complete success as the V-2 broke up soon after it was launched.
The US Navy also copied the V-1, renaming it the LOON, and fitted it to a couple of its submarines.

Yeah thanx for that redcoat I had been sceptical that it was just Cold War propaganda, as it must have been hugely dangerous, but like you say they actually did it!

There is a History Channel programme ( I know !! but it’s my only source) that shows the launch procedure for the mobile V2’s, having seen what a dangerous ball-ache it is I cannot believe it could be done from the air and must have been damn risky from a carrier.
