Do you mean the SMG ? It’s cam painted L2A3 Sterling (aka Patchett) in 9 x 19.

The sterling also used to have a nasty habit of emptying a whole magazine if dropped :shock:
I think this problem has been exaggerated over time, possibly during the changeover from the STEN, possibly as a wng to recruits.
If the weapon has been loaded and made ready it would take a incredibly hard strike to dislodge the safety and overcome the sear.
If a mag has been placed on the wpn with the bolt fwd it is extremely difficult to get the bolt to move far enough to the rear to strip a rd from the mag on it’s return, even more so to throw it back so far that it has enough impetus to ignite the primer.
However, I’d be having ‘words’ with any cnut that dropped his wpn !
Unless of course he had a valid excuse, eg. falling off a mountain, skin probs, etc.
Whatever the state of the wpn if it fires a rd due to it’s being dropped, it is still due to bad skills.
That’s why it’s called a Negligent Discharge.
(Personally I like the Oz term of Unauthorised Discharge - it covers all eventualities.)
