Waffen-SS paratrooper

They were not a Penal Unit in the sense that Direlwanger etc were. The SS discipline code was fairly harsh. These weren’t thieves, rapists and murderers. They had not saluted an Officer or other minor offences. As FTG link says there were 2 SS Para battalions and actually the second was formed from the remains of the first so it was one unit almost. They did not liberate Mussolini despite what Skorzeny would have you believe (Otto not you 57!!). They attempted to capture Tito, fought in the East and some served with Skorzeny’s 150th panzer Brigade in the Ardennes.

Right Bazooka Joe. Infact by order of SS-FHA, only the 50% of the effectives could come from Discipline Battailons.

My bad, I somehow thought they took part there.
