Original in color by Julien Bryan, american photographer. Warsaw, Poland 1939. Two polish soldiers on the Old Town Market Place. Oldest historic district of the city was destroyed 90% by German Nazis during second world war and rebuilt 1953 by Poles. The last reconstruction was Royal Castle 1974. 1980 rebuilt Old Town (Stare Miasto) was enlisted UNESCO World Heritage Site and it was thirtieth record on the list. Capital City of Warsaw was destroyed during ww2 in 70%.

It all looked good in 1973 when I happened to have visited it, but I hated to see some old newsreels documenting the city’s destruction.
