I was on a short overnight local security operaton with a squad of CIDG.
Much of our AO was triple canopy with thick undegrowth.
We stopped for a break along a faint path and I noticed one just like in the picture against the base of a tree a few feet away.
The hair on my neck went up and we moved on.
Booby traps were rare in our area as Charlie used the same routes at times.
I didn’t care, that thing is prolly still sitting there.
Not very glorious, but sometimes it wasn’t. Stirred up a memory, though.
It is an oiler and a grease can for a rifle. My Yugo mauser came with a similar one. Judgeing from the gliphs on it it is most likely Japanese.
