What types of food did soldiers (of both sides) eat

I know that types of food are different between each fighting force; simply because diversity of food depends on the location a force was at.

But I am interested in doing a bit of research on the common foods the Axis and Allies ate (I have yet to find any articles relating to this information)

If you mean rations these three sites are pretty good:

Look trough that thread there is more info/statistics about the food supply in USSR.

The germans tend to rely more in fresh food, not many cans as the allied, and because that suffered heavily in extreme weather scenarios like Afrika and Russian winter.

thanks for the information.

i had known that most allied powers used rations and canned goods (as well as powdered milk…yuck) but i had figured that the germans had done the same as the allies.

I can see how relying on fresh food can be a disadvantage in certain weather conditions. So could this be a small reason they lost the war? – just maybe an itty-bitty? lol
