Inspired by Moreheaddrillers thread about favourite all-time jet fighters and because I have been a helicopter buff in my youth I’d like to know about your favourite choppers.
I’ll start with mine, the classic Bell UH-1D “Huey”:
Hughes OH-6 Cayuse (nicknamed Loach)

AH-1G armed with hellfires
The Chinook because it’s so big and can carry really big and heavy things and people too.
If you like big toys, what about this one;)
Mi-12 Prototpe at Monino.
It can hoover maximal 40tons.
But ACH-47 is mean too.
Just for a change, a photo of my least favourite chopper!
Help me out on this one. What does “chopper” mean in this context?
That was a bad photo of him… It doesn’t look like he’s doing a good job of being “my” successor…
It’s a British slang term for an item of male genitalia.
My fav. is the Marine enemy killer ( the Ah-1 Cobra attack helicopter) The first true attack helicopter…
Got that, they did not teach us that one at school…
I’ve flown in several types of chopper in my life, but NOTHING gives you a rush like flying in a Huey Hog with the doors locked back. Now that is one kick ass ride!!
Gotta go with the classic Huey, its just…so…perfect
Oh there are better rushes.
Try hanging outside a Gazelle with you feet on the skids while it’s flying.
The Mil-24 Hind
Im fav is the AH-1 Cobra, the first true attack hellicopter.
And the New Super Cobra Haaaa that is a pissed snake…
My favorite chopper is the one taking me out of a hot LZ!
I’m going to do the evil thing here.
I like the AH64, I like the AH1 Cobra family.
The PAH 64 Mangusta is good, as is the Mil24 Hind from the D onwards.
The Kamov 28 and the Kamov 50 are also interesting.
But for the sheer “Oh, F**K! That’s after me!” factor, AH56A Cheyenne.
Regards, Uyraell.
