mauser 98 k

Need more information - best rifle for what?

A range/hunting rifle.

a nice rifle that can reach out.

Thats reliable

Take your pick of any of those. But be aware that the Mosin-Nagant M1891/30 needs to be fired with the bayonet fixed otherwise the point of impact is vastly altered (unless the f/s is altered - the sniper versions have a longer foresight more centrally mounted than the inf versions for this reason).

Basically it’s whatever you fancy - remember to take into account ammunition availability and cost. Recoil-wise, the M1903 and Kar98k will be the worst, and accuracy will be best with K31, if you can shoot open sights well (although the length of pull on the K31 can be too short if you’ve got long arms). The No.4 is fastest to operate and certainly the best all-rounder

And btw it’s No.4 Mk I

I personally would go with a Lee Enfield No.I Mk.III, but the No.IV Mk.I is a good choice too. Ammo for the Enfield is a bit more expensive than Mauser ammo, but it’s not too expensive.

The 303 brit ammo is becoming a bit scarce ,most of the surplus is just junk .
Most of the ammo out there is the Click …Bang or they just do go off (scarry sh*t) The K31 ammo is up there in the price about .30 per round depending how much you buy at one time

Now the 8mm is some good stuff ,

Just like any surplus ammo It is or may be corrosive ,you need to spray some windex down the barrel and action to stop the corrosive properties of the rounds

Here is a good link that will help you with you decisions http://www.surplusrifle.com/

As being a owner of the No1 ,No4 ,No5 Enfields and the K31 ,I find that the K31 is faster to reload than the Enfield
