Why don't bans work on some members?

Such as this one http://www.ww2incolor.com/forum/member.php?u=8744 who was banned by Nick few days ago but who tonight was still not shown as banned, even after I gave him the second barrel. http://www.ww2incolor.com/forum/memberlist.php?order=desc&sort=joindate&pp=30&page=1

This occurs from time to time with other ‘banned’ members, for no apparent reason.

Or are they effectively banned but ‘banned’ just fails to show under their name on the member list?

Personally I limited myself to ban spammers if the software offers me the “Ban Usergroup” option, it usually works then. Sometimes this option won’t appear though and it’s not possible for me to ban these users properly.

Which raises another point, being that the screens and options which appear as we go through the infraction / ban / delete posts processes aren’t always consistent. I can’t recall the exact differences as they’re random and can’t be reproduced.

Here’s another example where both barrels still failed to kill the spammer. http://www.ww2incolor.com/forum/member.php?u=8721

checking the settings…

I think it might be that they’ve already posted around five times, and only had the post “soft deleted?”

Yup. This guy already had 11 “soft deleted” posts. They do not register unless you click on the “statistics” and then “posts.” The soft deleted posts are still read as actual posts by the board software and therefore the offender keeps its rank and cannot be deleted by the normal banning process…

He’s gone now though.
