Winter 1941/42

"General Winter" was a powerful ally of the Red Army in winter of !941/42. In the central sector the temperature dropped to -41 degrees C (same in Fahrenheit) by the end of December 1941 and the german soldiers weren't still equipped with appropriate winter clothings.

Interesting thing hitler’s idol was Napoleon, and both campaign was lost because the russian winter.

right , Imi, you think they would have remembered that lesson or at least took more time to prepare for it

Hi Boxer – you are of course correct, except in one thing – in his arrogance, Hitler was sure the war would be over long before winter came! As it was, we should probably be thankful for the couple of weeks’ delay to Barbarossa due to the Greek Campaign. As it was, German patrols still got within either five miles or five kilometers of Moscow.
