World War II panoramas

I am not sure if this site has been adviced before but I just take the risk because it’s amazing!!! Take a look at the nowadays Hurtgenforest pillbox and especially the Bastogne- Bois Jacques panorama. Still gives you the creeps…

I read the links. I so want to go to Hurtgen forest and see if i can find goodies.

You’re about 20 years too late for this…to still find some goodies you’d have to go much farther eastwards meaning beyond the german border.

Those were pretty awesome pictures. Especially of the pillbox, being able to look all the way around. I don’t think that I would venture too far into the forest the way it looks overgrown. The bastogne pic was good too, you can push hotspot button and get sounds of war as your turning pic. The series Band of Brothers did a decent job of portraying the forest around bastogne when you look at this.

Yeah, the artillery barrage sounds from the Bois Jacques/Bastogne gives the whole thing another quality.

I spent some time on the site looking at some of the other pictures. Very nicely done. BTW, when you go on these trips to hurtgen forest are there trails that you follow? Seeing as how it looks so overgrown? Or do you get to walk around at your own peril?

I will certainly go in the first half of september. I guess I will do a bit of both, the official places of interest (got myself a book, translated: the military-historical guidebook of hurtgenforest) but I certainly will jump in the bush at the former “hotspots”. did that before, it’s quite impressive, sniffing some of the atmosphere and looking for semi-derelict trenches and foxholes.

Sweet!
