Wow, this plane rose out of the dead

Check out this pic:

That plane was found like that recently. Finnish?

Thats a Brewster B-239 Buffalo operated buy the Finnish airforce during WW2.

Think the pilot managed to bail?

Since the aircraft is in almost perfect condition it will have been landed in the lake pretty well (may even have landed on thin ice rather than ditched). And I don’t see a skeleton in the cockpit so it’s reasonable to assume the pilot got out

Hmmm, something US sold to Finland to fight the Soviets in the Finnish War??

Definitaly a Buffalo, the Finns did surprisingly well with them, they also flew a great variety of a/c, I think they used Blenheims as well as French a/c too.

I may even find out exactly what they had in their inventory now…

Some operative history of this aircraft on Finnish service.

Interestingly, both the Finns & the Russians had Hawker Hurricanes by the time of the Continuation War, though there are no records of them ever meeting in combat.

Have a important role this plane?
The Finns only produce 44 of it.
