Argentinian Military

PDF, I think that the military people should hire us 3 as consultants for such projects. Our main concern is that protection aside, the hull isnt strong enough or the suspension for that matter, to hold onto the turret in a firefight. Also, can you tell me what Winalot is??

A popular UK brand of dogfood. The quote is from the comedy* series Yes Prime Minister.

  • As anybody who has actually dealt with the UK civil service knows, Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister were actually documentaries.

Haa_HAAAAAAAAAAAA-HA! I can just see that, he-he-he… thanks!

The chassis is made of steel , it is based in the german Marder AFV but slighty up-armored.

Here I find a old video of the tank Regiment General Necochea.
Note in the minute 3:14 and 5:11 how the vehicle slide backwards in the grass after the gun is fired. That is recoil ¡¡

That chassis is taking some pounding. I’d be concerned that in a protracted firefight, there may be failures of the turret, or automotive systems… Very exciting to see though, brings back memories… snif, snif. my turn now,

All the melancolic people seems to be togheter here.

Ah yes my friend, and what better place for us could there be? I added a few more pics to the M60A1E2 post, if you would like to see them,For such a radical design, there isnt much information about it.

Bring those pictures on TG.

That is superb video, Argentine aircraft landing in the Ushuaia airport. quite snowy.

Hi P.K. I posted them with the other pic of the A1E2there are 3 more. That is awesome footage, I’m not a drinking man, but I would be after doing that,

I hope this was a dramatization, and not actual deployment tactics, the L.A.W rocket would take out anyone behind it…Those fellahs with the rifles are gonners.

Or at list badly burned

That may well be my friend, I certainly would never get that close to an armed missile launcher, (feet, dont fail me now,)I copied a bit about the launcher fron the net,(Gary’s U.S. infantry weapons guide.) and it follows.
" The M72 is an open-chambered weapon, so it has no recoil. The launcher’s total back blast area extends 131 feet (40 m) to the rear. This back blast can damage equipment or seriously injure personnel who are too close to the rear of the launcher."

Danger zone. All personnel, equipment, and flammable material must be clear of this area.

Caution zone. The weapon’s back blast may throw loose objects to the rear. Therefore, personnel must also stay clear of this area.

M72_blast.gif

The blast area is larger than I tough ¡¡ The Army ha developed an 80 mm variant of the LAW, the MARA, pretty simple and cheap weapond, good against the APC and IFV, but dubiously effective if used to battle the MBTs.

Against todays MBT’s it would indeed be no threat. The layered reactive armor would defeat this type of weapon. But,many nations use more wheeled AFV’s these days, with thinner armor, and many older style homogenous armored tanks are still in use, so there is always a job for this weapon.
Its also great for breaching walls, dispersing troops, and scaring the neighbors…

The CITEFA ( technical office of armaments for the Army) claimed that the MARA is capable to defeat 450mm RHA.

For comparison a modern tanks like the T-80 have a laminated-ceramic armor wich is equivalent to 840 mm RHA, and the Vickers Challengers Chobham armor is superior to the 950 mm RHA figure.

If they have a real budget.

Cala 30 L45 155mm howitzer.

Why not an enclosed SP gun?

Like the British AS-90?

Now you’re talking.

AS90 is a 155mm self-propelled gun that equips six Field Regiments of the Royal Horse Artillery and Royal Artillery. Fitted with a standard barrel, AS90 can fire the NATO L15 unassisted 155mm projectile (96lbs) 24.7 km. With a long (52 Calibre) barrel the gun can reach out to 30 km using standard ammunition, and 60-80 km with Extended Range (ERA). AS90 is equipped with an autonomous Navigation and Gun Laying system (AGLS) based on the vehicles inertial navigation system, the Dynamic Reference Unit (DRU). All main turret functions are controlled by the Turret Control Computer (TCC).

The above gun is like the old FH 70 155 howizter, complete with aux moving kit.

went out of service with the TA in UK in the 90s,

Found these too.

Check out this bad boy…

what is this monstrositcy

The last one makes sense until you see the truck cab, is that actually part of the tracked vehicle, or just laying there?? (like junk yard storage…)

Argentina have in service an armored self propelled gun, the TAM Palmaria, wich Erwin had posted some images, but the problem is that the figures of Palmarias are not enoug.

That is why I really believe our army ( and armed forces in general) need to be more independent of the civilians autorities, that usually have no the slightest idea of how the defense of a country works, how I hate that people.
