Do you think the USSR would've defeated Germany w/o allies?

Talk about scary

Bearing in mind that Nick’s starting comment was about America joining Russia to invade Iran etc if Britain fell, it should be noted that, because Britain didn’t fall, America invaded Australia instead, and it was worse.

For example, America had about 1,000,000 troops in our north eastern state of Queensland, which before the Americans arrived had a state population of about 1,300,000. Given that a lot of our men were elsewhere in uniform, a million Yanks plus about half a million Aussie blokes competing for about 600,000 to 700,000 women caused a degree of friction, but not the type commonly sought by soldiers on leave.

Nah, they just ate our troops in New Guinea instead.

It wasn’t a hostile act.

They ate more of their own, probably because they were easier to catch.

I can imagine ,it was a real fight for Australian women. But you forget to say which side won?

:D:)
Becouse in the New Guinea thee were no Koalas and Kenguroo. Or they can’t catch nobody except your POWs who were accessible.

Even unarmed, they can be dangerous.

Lucky the Pommie tourist didn’t lose his goolies. It’s not the kangaroo’s fault. He was just responding to Pommie visitors the way most Australians do.

The kangaroos are nicer to other tourists.

Seriously, they just attack humans the same way they fight with each other.

The films give no idea of the damage those claws can do.

But kangaroos can also be very affectionate.

The women, as usual.

Damn , it would the the shock for German Soldiers in Australia who didn’t see nothing more serious than mouses:)

I read those figures earlier today in a book on Australian women’s experience of WWII.

On reflection, I’m not sure that they’re anywhere near accurate. Far too high, I suspect.

Anyway, why let facts get in the way of a good story?

Hence the term: “overpayed, oversexed, and over HERE!”

Hence the excited phrase in certain circles here: “Doris, the US fleet is in.”

And Doris says, “It will be, but each sailor will have to take his turn.”

I think one could argue that they did win on their own! It has been established that the strategic bombing campaign was a failure (the Germans increased production after all) and they were only truly handicapped when the US/UK systematically destroyed their fuel production capacity…which was in 1944 by which time the German army had already been for all extent and purposes, completely crushed by the Soviets… lend lease was very helpful of course, but I don’t think it was essential… By late 1942 the German army was overextended and more importantly perhaps losing in the ‘production war’…

I believe that the Soviets ceded a great deal of territory to the Germans in the treaty of Brest-Litvosk in 1918. This contained much of the territory that was attacked in 1941. Do people think that the USSR would have later tried to retake this land by force if the central powers had won?

When discussing the posssibility of defeating Russia it seems like the defeat in 1918 is overlooked by some people.
