Fw 190 A-5 (1943)

The three planes belong to 5./JG 54 (black 5, 7 and six). The photo was shot in summer 1943. Maybe during at the battle of Kursk or shortly before. The camouflage was typical for JG 54. The group symbols on the hood and under the cockpit (greenheart) are overpainted with green color.

Sure is, “Butcher Bird”.The color photo’s of JG54 on the Eastern front are some of my favorites.This one I have never seen before.

Very nice photo… the puddles emphasis the somewhat forlorn feel to the picture … I know it was earlier in the war but still creates a feeling !
