Kirch-Göns in Hesse? Man, isn’t this absolute provincial backwater?
The US Army closed the barracks in 1997, I have been to Giessen a couple of times.
Hello Everyone,
My name is Anth, I am 35 years old and live in County Durham in North East England.I have been a member of the site for a long time but have never posted for some reason, although i have left a few comments on the early photos.I am interested in all aspects of WW2 but especially the 101st Airborne and the German army in general. The 101st interest stems from the movie, The Battle Of The Bulge which was the first war film I saw about 30 years ago and it made a lasting impression.Anyway enough of my waffle and I look forward to many posts in the coming weeks and months.
Howdy all,
Just happened on the site searching for info on WW II Japanese aircraft. I recently returned from Papua New Guinea and while there, was guided to a little know crash site of a Japanese fighter plane. I would like to identify it if possible from my frequently faulty memory. Anyone care to help?? Give a shout if so, and I will provide what info I have. Regards to all.
Hi everyone,
I stumbled upon this forum while trying to find some specific info on a training area in New Zealand during WW2, used by US forces.
Now that I have had a bit of a look around, I think I may be able to get some great info from here, and also hopefully share a bit as well.
My Great Grandfather served with a NZ mounted rifles unit in WW1, I am just waiting for a copy of his service records to arrive in the mail, and my one of my Grandfathers served in WW2 as a cook, and Grandfather in law was a navigator/air gunner attached to the RAF during WW2.
I am a collector of Militaria, and have a vehicle restoration project on the go.
Also a collector of Service rifles, mainly x kiwi, and some US carbines.
I will ask my first question in the appropriate section.
Here is a link to that question
I’m really looking forward to sharing some valuable intel here.
