Panzer projects & prototypes.

A slimer Sd.Kfz 251

I was searching for mor epics of this rare design but I give up, nothing appears. The snapshot of “enciclopedya of German Tanks” is all I got.

Minenraeum-Gerät (Hammer-Schlaggerät)

Very weird anti-mine device, the “mine clearing apparatus- hammer blow device” was developed by Wegmann & Co from Kassel in 1941/42. This could be attached in front of any panzer and was made in a way the movement of wheels accionated the mine exploding heads, wich were hammer like steel cilinders hitting the ground about a meter of travel or so

No combat usage or further development of this is recorded.

Škoda LR-30

Interesting design, can you translate a bit ?

Sorry, my english is bad…

Ok, the thing I can deduce from there is that Skoda developed a design for a improved Land Wasser Schlepper.

Good looking vehicle.

Some new Kätzchen pics :D…

That seems to be the Auto Union variant of the “Kitty” wich is a name a bit “gay” for a military vehicle

the allied soldiers will be laughing their heads off until they actualy got a taste of panzergrenadier from the “gay” APC…

Definately, but is name is really amusing.

Right, and what about a 188-ton tank called “mouse”…

And the thousand ton landkreuzer “RATTE”.

Auto Union version of Katzchen… was there more than one version?

There were two versions of them, one made by Auto Union and one by BMM.
Here some data:

Auto Union´s "“Katzchen” is not manschafttransporter, but armored munitionwagen (VK 5.01).

Maybe it was “Tarnbezeichnung”?

Auto Union´s "“Katzchen” is not manschafttransporter, but armored munitionwagen

Nich, the Vk501 is a smaller vehicle.

One of the origially proposed names for the Typ 205 was mammoth but thye prefered the mos ironic “mouse”

And by the way just in case that somebody is wondering the BMM ( Bohemische und Moravische Maschinenfabrik) have nothing to do with BMW ( Bayerische Motoren Werke)

2cm Flakvierling auf Fahrgestell Panzerkampfwagen IV

The 2cm Flakvierling auf Fahrgestell Panzerkampfwagern IV, popularly known as the Möbelwagen ( furniture van or furniture truck), never actually entered volume production. The chassis was a simple conversion of the basic Panzerkampfwagen IV with a wider superstructure and large shields surrounding the 2cm Flakvierling 38. Hitler saw at least two demonstrations of the vehicle (in early 1943 and in October of 1943), but both times vetoed production. The chassis was ultimately used to create a Möbelwagen using the 3.7cm FlaK43.

Panzerbeobachtungwagens:

Until 1942 the advanced artillery observers were doing his work from armored cars and light halftracks, that vehicles had a very low survivality in the battlefield, that was particulary true in the hard envoromen of the Eastern Front plagued with antitank rifles, at guns, artillery and mines.
A heavier and well protected panzer was needed for artllery duties.
Already in a early date as november 1942 the Panther was nominated as a possible heavy Panzerbeobachstungwagen ( armored obserbation vehicle)

The Panther entwurf 3.

Several drawings were submitted in late november for fulfilling the observation requeriment, one by Daimler Benz, one by Krupp and other by Rheinmetall Borsig, The only surviving squematic is the known as Entwurf 3 (third proposal) made by RB.

The entwurf 3 panther turret was based on ausf D one, modified with a 1 meter base rangefinder in the front and two observation devices. A large TBF 2 ( TurmBeobachtungFenrohr = turret periscope) centrally located in the commander post ( very much like a submarine periscope) and a smaller TRS1 spotting periscope used by the adjutant observer. Both devices would allow the crew to observe the falling of artillery shots completely enclosed and protected in the turret.

Aditional radio equipment in the way of FuG 5 and FuG 10 were to be carried in order to transmit corrections to artilley batteries, two aditional radio mast including a star antenna were installed in the Entwurf 3 Panther.

The armament used was the smaller K.wK 39/1 50mm with 60 calibers barrel with no coaxial gun, that allowed more internal space than with 75mm K.w.K 42 armed Panther.
No production vehicles of this variant were manufactured
