Problems that need to be dealt with!!!

FW dont forget when making a new forum to set permissions to registered. If you dont it defaults to public and anyone could post there.

I just received a PM from Tsolias:

Hey Dani this is Tsolias

I’ve changed my email adress to diveskin@diveskin.net a couple of weeks before and since then Im unable to log in!
I’ve tried to contact almost everyone on the forum with no luck…
Finally I’ve created this new account in order to get in contact and solve this.
PLease help!!

Any thoughts?

I think the problem should be fixed! Let me know if he has anymore problems and ill reset his password.

ok, thanks for the remind

anyways
i have a suggestion
firefly seems to be a good member and have good knowledge on world war 2, how about promote him to admin?

Basically I agree, but technically check the chart:

Admins:
ww2admin - owner and admin
Gen. Sandworm - admin
FW-190 Pilot - admin

Mods:
Dani - chief mod
Tiger - mod
Firefly - mod

So we have: a founder, 2 admins and 3 mods.

There are 2 ways to promote Firefly as admin:
First one: one of you (admins) to be stepped down as a mod.
Second one: we have to appoint at least one mod to have a founder, 3 admins and 2+1 mods.

Are you wishing to step down FW???

not really, its suppose to be firefly to join the admin group
i dont see why?
perhaps we can find another mod to replace firefly

I think you and I should talk about this on messenger. Im not understanding your line of thinking.?!?!?!

sorry
my eng is not very good
let me say again

First, we promote firefly (tiger said Dani) for admin
Second, we promote a member to be a mod (thus, introduce a new mod)

Sorry buddies! I think it’s better to discuss both of you all these things by messenger or by PM and after that either to inform us or ask us about our opinions.

well, i thought it would be better for you guys to be involve in the discussion

Well after a talk with FW we came to the conclusion that our concern is about the current status of the site! Basically we are concerned that the site is getting a bid dull. We need to fix this problem! So all of you… admins, chief mods and mods please brainstorm on idea that might make the site a bit more fun. Remember its all about our members. BTW sorry if anyones feelings were hurt in the course of this discussion. We have our guidelines and will stick to them. This was a misunderstandment between admin that now is solved. Anyhow we need your help so think about and lets make things happen! Thanks!

Guys I have just been on a short notice course to Portsmouth and have just read this. Thanks to FW for his confidence, I’m not sure why the subject came about but I was slightly embarrassed to read it.

In short, I am here for you in any capacity, be it Mod or Admin or just a dogsbody. I have an admiration and respect for you all and would not wish to upset anyone.

As you know I am in the real military and we promote on merit and if anyone merits being an Admin my vote would surely go to Dani as chief Mod (I know my place).

I really dont think we need to upset the staus quo just yet as we dont have enough posting members to warrant such a lopsided heirarchy. Maintain the pyramid is what I think. I think 1 chief Mod to 3 Mods would suffice right now. As me and Tiger are the only Mods, maybe we should get another Mod? But does traffic warrant it?

I am to deploy to Iraq in the summer for at least 4 months so I probably wont be able to check in every day (for obvious reasons) so I think we should start looking to recruit another Mod. I will be an infrequent mod then but hope to still take part.

My thoughts are that we need someone like we are. I think we are all mature, thoughtfull and sincere in our desire to make this site the best ww2 Forum out there. I dont want to be age-ist etc but certain 16-20 year old members dont fit the bill for me with the current posters.

I think we need to define what we want from our Forum before working out a strategy for the way forward.

Any thoughts?

I already gave my vote to Firefly. Speaking of merits, I am sure that Firefly deserves more than me (remeber that I haven’t any addition on the last month  ). My only concern was on hierarchy. (And I wasn’t upset on the issue discussed, come on!  )

Remember that we demodded a chief mod and 2 mods due to their lack of presence during several months. Now imagine that we wouldn’t demmoded them. So, in this period of time, what should we do? To demode some mods due to sleepy forum?
On the other hand I was under impression that Tsolias will be a next mod.

Tsoilas had my vote. Speaking of age, I hope that FW-190 and Tiger won’t be upset of FF’s remark.

Quite true. (Meantime I want to inform you that my PC problems were in their vast majority solved, so I’ll be able to be more active in a very short time).
Cheers!

Oops, I didnt mean FW and Tiger, they are thoughfull and mature, I meant some of the latest crop.

Cheers for the thoughts anyway.

I agree to this as well. If we help define the focus the problems will be easier to approach.

I think this is our problem all the way, which is lack of interesting things to do in this website. Here is my suggestion

  • i hope someone can take the life chat into our website and we can chat live in there

  • games section that members play games regularly

  • section where interesting facts about the war would be shown

  • cartoon section where cartoons about world war 2 are posted

  • i dont know if it works or not, we can have a roleplaying section where most of the forum has set up

  • take the movie contest seriously and let winner’s video be post on the website video gallery, but first we have to talk with ww2admin about that. Post tutorial website to teach how users can make their own video

More and interesting talks about ww2. We have to remember that this is WW2IC, the main focus is colour photos.

Maybe we should discuss the photos more?

Well the focus should be centered around learning! Studying pics and what not are a great way to do this. Im alway happy when people come to the site looking for info about something. For our more consistent members we need more activities.
