Bison 1 British “mobile pillbox”.
Looks like a portable fortress of some kind, looks like its made of wood?
Late post my bad
no. concrete and steel. Im serious.
The concrete was poured into molds made of wood planks, and the space between the planks, and even the wood grain will show in the surface of the cement, so its not unusual for it to appear as wood.(very observant)
Hello, everyone!
Looks like Walters got it… tho’ I’ve not heard them refered to as anything other than just “plain” Bison.
Britain used various redundant civilian heavy trucks (from out of work haulage companies) and created “reasonably” mobile pillboxes by stripping off everything on the chassis, erecting a wooden form, dropping in panels of expanded metal and filling it concrete. All but the earliest vehicles retained the inner wooden form to act as an antispall layer.
Two general types: the earlier “Blockhouse” had a connected cab and box, while the later “Pillbox” had seperate cab and box. Entry was typically thru the top, which was closed off with a tarp. Armament was whatever the crew, usually Home Guard, had at hand.
Desperate times lead to desperate solutions and this was one of the more common.

Explains the tires at the back of it
Quack.
Come on, Major, that’s a DUKW with a canopy.
Niet. Do you think I do stuff like that?
No ducking the issue now,There is a tourist area in my state, and there are rivers, and all types of wetlands there is one outfitter that has a bunch of these ducks used for their tours.
Well, you might. And, to me at least, it looks like a DUKW.
Niet… not a DUKW. Looks like one though… There is more than one amphibious vehicle that looks like a Dukw…
