Where and when is it?

Hi woj,
it’s still me… The place and the year may be the Mount Cassino Battle (Italy) in 1944…

Hi Skorzeny,
Yes, It´s him, obviously wasn´t difficult…

Your turn

Here’s the next puzzle. At first sight it just seems one of the thousands picture shot somewhere in Europe… You should guess the name of the unit (Division), the Country where the pic was shot and the month and the year…

Cheers!!

Hi,

Italy, February 28, 1945 - Brasilian soldiers of 6th Infantry Regiment of the 1st Expeditionary Infantry Division patroling near Monte Belvedere after the battle of Monte Castello.

Regards
woj

Hi woj,
you’ve got the right place (Monte Belvedere) and the right month and year, but this soldiers are not Brazilians of the 6th Infantry Regiment… You’ve almost got it…

A wild guess, but I’ve seen pictures of New Zealand troops in Italy in US kit, so I’ll suggest they’re New Zelanders.

(If I’m correct, woj can pose the next quiz as he actually knows something about this picture.)

Hi Rising Sun*,
I remember some pictures about New Zelanders in Italy with US equipment, but these soldiers are not from New Zeland…
Cheers.

The Brasilians fought the battle supporting the troops of US 10th Mountain Divison. Are they Americans?
If not, they could be only members of the 1st Infantry Regiment.

Yes, yes, mr. woj,
these are American Soldiers of the 10th Mountain Division. Here’s the original caption of the picture, from the book “Hill 913” John Wayles Kennedy’s Diary.

February 21st, 1945. Troop alternations among the 10th Mountain Division, after the capture of Mount Belvedere.

Well done woj.  Your turn.

OK, Thanks a lot

I´ve got my information from this Brazilian website ----> http://www.google.pl/imgres?imgurl=http://diogotavares.sites.uol.com.br/MonteBelvedere.jpg&imgrefurl=http://diogotavares.sites.uol.com.br/09FEVEREIRO1945.htm&h=250&w=291&sz=29&tbnid=OfvkhMc6YjB5dM:&tbnh=99&tbnw=115&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dmonte%2Bbelvedere%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=monte+belvedere&hl=de&usg=__dZ_WconcOupIPwwVYXuBnVXOy9Y=&sa=X&ei=d9iyTcjsM8SXOrOaufoI&ved=0CEQQ9QEwCw

So I was pretty sure they are Brazilians.

My question comes soon
Regards and happy Easter
woj

Good!

That makes woj’s answer 100% his own knowledge, unlike my attempt at a lucky answer.

On NZ troops in Italy, I wanted to use this photo showing a Kiwi in US kit in my last quiz to see if anyone could work out the nationality of the soldier on the tank, but the source carefully prevents one from copying the photo. http://mp.natlib.govt.nz/detail/?id=10002&l=en

Nice pics and good idea for future quiz, RS.

OK, here you are:

I want to know the place, the year, the unit and what did they capture

Hi, dear mr. woj

Drvar (West Bosnia) May 25th,1944. Fallschirmjagers of the 500 ° SS Battaillon show the Marshall Tito uniform, after the attempt to capture him.

Yup, very quickly Mr. Skorzeny, very precisely…
The stage is yours!

Here i am, on time like a pressing bill with a new quiz for all of you! I say “all of you” even if i have the well-founded suspicion that the last two competitors are woj and the undersigned… I have a suggestion. We may turn the name of the thread from “Where and when is it?” into “Who knows it? woj or skorzeny57?”
Puzzle #1.jpg
Anyway, here the puzzle. I don’t think it’s difficult…
You should guess the name of the Ethnic Group of these soldiers. In which Army they were enlisted. The name of the Country where the picture was shot and the year.
Cheers!!!

HAHA skorzeny57 don’t worry I think you guys are on a hot streak,do you gamble

As for the picture “Sikh soldiers of the British army in Libya, 1941. They had captured this anti-aircraft gun from the German forces” found courtesy of google. The hot streak is over.

For the series “The onlooker gets the best of a fight”, rudeerude has broken our streak of luck with an instant and precise answer… :frowning: In spite of the short dimension of the pic (it was too late, when i realized that you couldn’t enlarge it), he did it, even without the help of a magnifying glass… It’s with a lot of sorrow, that i have to admit that you made bingo…
Your turn.

Ok here we go when(year) and where ??.This might be a tough one I hope not

Yes a magnifying glass would have been need but the Sikh’s were obvious, key word for my search
