A wild guess, but I’ve seen pictures of New Zealand troops in Italy in US kit, so I’ll suggest they’re New Zelanders.

(If I’m correct, woj can pose the next quiz as he actually knows something about this picture.)

these are American Soldiers of the 10th Mountain Division. Here’s the original caption of the picture, from the book “Hill 913” John Wayles Kennedy’s Diary.
