And yes – what a pity that nobody was able to recognize Mr. Marian Rejewski – a brilliant Polish mathematician and cryptologist who successfully applied his outstanding knowledge in Theory of Permutations during breaking the Enigma cipher – personality which achieved one of the two most critical scientific contributions leading to the end of World War II. :frowning:

Well, after this tiny explanation, here is another task for you, honorable ladies and gentlemen:

Our mysterious personality was an impressive commander and unduly ignored intellectual, a noted military historian, a polyglot who fluently spoke in five languages, an excellent tactician, a matchless soldier, a great leader and - without any doubt - one amongst the forgotten commanding officers of the WW2.

Indeed, my dear Mr. Tiger 205! A U.S. army officer, born in Flatow, West Prussia, Germany. He made his name in the jungles of the Pacific theater, and featured on the cover of Time magazine as well, he was tapped by Douglas MacArthur to lead the invasion of Japan, and he made crucial contributions to the army’s tactical and operational doctrine. Without any doubt, he was one of the best commanders of World War II, credited by his subordinated officers as “swift and sure in attack, tenacious and determined in defense, modest and restrained in victory.”

Please accept my sincerest congratulations, my dear Sir, on your splendid success and truly vivacious persistence. And now, please - carry on the good work!

By the end of his career, some more stars were in his shoulder

Holy smoke! A Soviet lieutenant general, bearer of the Golden star of the Hero of the Soviet Union, additionally decorated with two Orders of the Red Banner, Order of Suvorov, Czechoslovakian War Cross (Československý válečný kříž), and a nice string of Croix de Guerre!

Well, as far as I know, Rodion Yakovlevich Malinovskii (Родион Яковлевич Малиновский) is the only person who actually was decorated with all those previously mentioned military awards, my dear Mr. Tiger 205.

He was involved in the major defeat of Germany during the Battle of Stalingrad, and throughout the post-war era as a Defense Minister of the Soviet Union completed a pivotal contribution to the Soviet Union as a military superpower.
