WW2 aircraft

Dear Tiger205
of course I’ll give you following important hints:

  • the role of the mystery aircraft was observation
  • nationality: USA
  • first flown in 1938
  • only one built
  • engine was a Pratt&Whitney 1340-36
  • it had a double denomination as it often happens with US aircrafts
I’m pretty sure this is going t o secure name of this a/c
    Cheers

Thanks, Pretty much!

Naval Aircraft Factory XOSN-1?

BUT!
I am angry!
I have checked my “NAC database” before, when you imagined “smaller then Boeing” and I have missed this biplane :frowning:
(I’ve got the SON-1, and that’s it…)
Anyways, thanks for the brain testing!

Yes dear Tiger, that’s what it is! Naval Aircraft Factory XOSN1.
You shouldn’t be angry because it was not a current aircraft and I must pay you my compliments…
Waiting now for your challenge
Carson1934

Thanks a lot, but I still missed it!

Anyways, here is my enigma:

Very interesting and somewhat intriguing challenge…
In spite of the german markings I opt for a : Arsenal VG/33C1 (also known as VG33/05).
I think it is one of the “Beuteflugzeug” on which germans laid their hands after the surrender of France…
Please let me know if correct
Cheers

Indeed Mr. Carson you are right, it seems I cannot find HARD ENOUGH enigma!
Congratulations, it’s your turn!

Good afternoon (or good morning whatever the case nìmay be) gentlemen,
this is my today’s offer an easy one in order not to spoil your weekend…
Cheers

Hi.

Following the registration it´s a Fieseler F-2 Tiger…

tom!

Your turn

Hi Tom
that’s a bit too obscure for me…would it be possible to let me know her nationality?
Thanks and cheers
Carson1934

Hi.

If your watch the upper wing on the left carefully, you may identifiy the national marking…

I´ve hidden the national marking on the rear fuselage because I thought that it would have made it too easy.

tom!

Dear Tom
you must have eagle’s eyes…
I looked it up very carefully, enlarged the picture, put it into negative, there is no way that I can see any marking at all.
The pic is just too obscure (like the aircraft for me).
At this stage I’ll let somebody else work on it…
Cheers

I’ll make one last and final try: maybe an early Kawasaki?

Hi.

It is indeed a Kawasaki, here the original pic:

To me the hinomaru on the wings are a little bit darker than the rest… :frowning:

tom!

Hi Tom
on your original pic I can barely discern a hinomaru on the fuselage but can’t still see anything on the wings…however having ascertained that this is a Kawasaki model I still haven’t been able to discover the exact type though I’ve been going thru quite a lot of them…Many look-alikes but nothing that really tallies with your picture…could this be a modified model?
Carson1934

Hi.

No, it´s a serial production aircraft. A total of 243 were built by Kawasaki and a second manufacturer.

A side view:

At this stage it must be the Kawasaki Ki3. I didn’t recognize it at first because I only have a poor picture of this aircraft in my files. I hope I’m right!

Thanks for your help anyway
