I agree … I think the loyal member medal should be given to any member who has been around long enough or made good post for a decent period of time. The other medals should be discussed in this thread.
what i am thinking is
we take away the right for normal user to have signature, only the ones with medals are able to have one. something like that to make the medals more useful than just decoration in your sig.
just one quick Off topic in here, we STILL need something that is interesting, so that we dont lost our members too.

I think we might have overlooked a couple members for the site defense medal…those being Kolvaski, Lancer44 and Nickdfresh. As you know SSTiger was awarded the medal for doing pretty much the same thing as these guys did as well but they were never nominated. So what do you guys think?
edited to add that its great that members point them out themselves instead of waiting for us. I hope that this will inspire more members to alert us to the problem as soon as it appears.
So just to add HG and Kolvaski are nominated for the Loyal member medal…which im sure no one has a problem with.

Dani if you would like to take these that would be fine…or FF and PK can start doing it to. I know it used to be that only admins and chief mods could give them but i dont see a problem with all staff doing it. Any problems?
No problems from me but as you say I have not that prerrogative.
Cuts deserves as well if he didn’t have yet teh site defence medal. I have received several PM from him pointing at spammers posts.
I’d like to but unfortunatelly I’ll be online for short periods of time for a couple of days. Thus my sig pics issue was delayed.
Neither do I see a problem.
2 things must be noticed:
a) when awarding someone please unthick “Show your signature” button under the posting window.
b) after awarding you must send a congrats PM with the medal picture in order to be add on holder’s sig.
Ill recommend Kolvaski, Lancer44 and Nickdfresh for the site defense medal.
Kolvaski and HG need to be awarded the Loyal Member medal.
Cuts ill just pm him and tell him that we acknowlegde his work and will only post the award if he wishes. I know he wont wear one.
So if FF or PK could take the time and award these we can just get a rotation going. So when awarding remove your sig for clarity and pm the member. I usually say something like:
"Hi So and so,
You have been awarded the XXXX medal. You may now place the medal located below in your signature. You do not have to wear the medal if you do not wish. Thanks for your contribution to the site. It is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Dani…FF and PK youll be next in line to do it. These are things that can build up but most members our proud to have them. I know I am. But it for the members. I think its a great way to say thanks.

I agree, for some members the ribbons add to their experience. I also think that it will be nice when the ranks come back, a lot of members liked that too.
anyways, when someone recommend the medal, should we discuss in here first before we hand it to the members?

Ive also noted that FF, PK and Dani you all would be up for the site defense medal as well. However lets wait abit before that is handed out. You did alot in keeping them at bay. Thanks. However im sure the war will continue.
Agreed, too many medals for Mods looks like we just award ourselves them at out pleasure, we should be treated more harshly when it comes to giving out awards than the normal members I think.

Also I would like to point out Sneaksie has done a good job a taking the time out to translate PK’s articles from russian to english. I say if he keeps up with this then he should be up for the site service medal. One we dont hand out very often.
PK sorry to disagree with you in public there but I thought if it went on others might wonder why they havent been awarded the Loyal member medal. So I wanted to make a point hopefully they will understand.

On the subject of Loyal member awards…we might have over looked George Eller, Gutkowski and Hans Lutz. A few others as well but these have really stuck out. I did a search on member that had been around for more than a year that had posted in the last 2 months. These 3 I was kinda surprised we forgot.
Any complaints on these?
Also added DerMann to the list.
