You’re not coincidentally related to Christian Frederik von Schalburg, are you?

Hello Everyone, I am the daughter of a Korean War and WWII veteran.

I recently lost my dad to cancer. I found a box of photos in his belongings of him during the war which sparked my curiosity.

My dad served in the 6850th Internal Security Detachment at the Nuremburg War Crime Trials. He had told us he was the chief cage warden while there and was part of the security at the prison.

I was wondering if anyone out there may have also been there with my dad at the time. His name was Robert Brenneke. I would love to find someone who was there and maybe could share some of their stories with me about what it was like. I have always been fascinated with this history and Dad always had some great stories about his time there.

I recently saw a program on t.v. about the trials and there were two men who were interviewed, Bill Miller and also Ken Fulkerson who were guards at the prison. If anyone knows them I was wondering if they may be able to put them in touch with me. I’m not sure if they would have known dad or not but it’s worth a shot.

Thank you I’d appreciate any help. My dad was so proud of his country and was happy to have served it well.

God Bless You all and thank you for your service.

Hi Proud Daughter!
Brenneke? When did your father’s family leave Germany for the New World?

Hello to everyone. I come from Italy! I’m very interested to every kind of pictures and video about Cassino. Someone can help me!?

Hi All,
Found this site whilst looking at aces of WW2 and found H.U.R the ace of all aces!
What realy got me going was the post by some fellow regarding H.U.R’s political profile!
For the record a warrior is a warrior - his political views not really relevant!
How many famous warriors were pisscats, had strange or uncommon views on society etc! but to quote on of the other chaps _ you talk the talk but can you walk the Walk?
I’ve walked the walk my rank not important - in recon. activities rank does not count your personal views does not count - your background does not count but walking the walk does!
You are your own General, Col, captain sarge and private! - and you do the job!
Very few soldiers - warriors, does not have a spotless ‘record’ it is not in their makeup!
No Fighting force - EVER - can claim that they have NEVER transgressed into the world of ‘warcrimes’ - don’t get me wrong on this issue - the word warcrimes! We have all killed in the line of duty - it is our JOB - Those faint at heart people may call us murderers - their choice - but regardless of Rudel’s political values views - he was a splendid warrior

Howdy Folks. I hope I can contribute something here. We shall see.

hey everyone im a student and i was talking to my u.s history teacher and he said during world war 2 there was a fake city under general pattons command that had balloon tanks and cars to distract the nazis. could anyone tell me about this or send pics. thanx

It was a deception to make the Germans in Normandy believe that the Allied forces were more numerous than they were, and positioned to attack the wrong beaches located at the closest point between Britain and France:

Hello, and welcome. Not too certain I have much that can be posted here, picture wise, but, Fred Madjalany’s book on Monte Cassino is very informative, and eminently readable. US General Mark Clark’s book “Calculated Risk” also has some reasonably good pictures, including (if memory serves correctly) the well-known photo of the panther-turret emplacements (“Panther Stellungs”?) that have been seen in this forum board. :army:

As an aside, my uncle was with the New Zealand Division fighting at Cassino.
Two memories he mentions (getting him to talk about it at all is a major exercise) : it was extremely cold at night, and food was such that very few hot meals were had in the course of a week, since the roads and fields turning into lakes of mud prevented hot meals being sent forwards, though ammunition always seemed to get to those who needed it.

Regards, Uyraell.
