I was somewhat inexcusable actually.
I’ll be on a short vacation to the Dutch channel coast, Walcheren peninsula.
Maybe I’ll try to swim the channel and start my own Seelöwe OP. Back on friday…
Off to Germany until the 1st - Munich this weekend, Frankfurt in between and Bonn next weekend. Oktoberfest + various family.
Oh man! I can’t wait for the day I go to Oktoberfest! At least we have a copy http://www.oktoberfest.ca/
Welp, it is not exactly a vacation. But there seems to be something of an epic tropical storm more powerful than anything that has ever hit the East Coast of the United States headed my way coming here to die. While I do not anticipate the same level of problems my poor downstate and New jersey brethren no doubt will suffer on the coast when it makes landfall as it will lose a lot of punch plowing through Pennsylvania–we will still have high winds, lots of rain, and very saturated soil making uprooted trees very likely. We might lose power in the next 30 hours or so, hopefully not for too long here and hopefully not everywhere. But I’ll be riding this thing out in the bar and either here or my parents house and will check in if I at all can…
Good that you’re moving to defense condition “Bistro” Just keep you, and the folks safe.
LOL I think we’re okay as we are 400 miles from the coast (of the Atlantic, although the Great Lakes of Erie and Ontario might also see some whipped up swells from this storm ) and the storm will be losing a lot of steam by the time it hits here. But I do not recall a tropical storm like this hitting Buffalo, ever. Usually it’s just rain when it gets here. I just don’t want to be without power for too long…
*Upon further review, the storm track has changed and it seems to be tracking more westward into PA and isn’t going to make the northward swing they were originally predicting and looks like we’re only getting the peripheral rains and wind…
Talked to the in-laws earlier (NJ/PA border), they’re expecting trouble but are inland halfway up a mountain so shouldn’t be too badly off - no power for a few days at worst.
Either way…keep your head down!
Almost nothing here, but the Jersey Shore and New York City are having severe problems with the tide. An entire oil tanker washed up on Staten Island and was beached!
Off to Belgium, back on friday.
Feast well! Stories with picture would be nice too, hopefully, not mugshots…
Enjoy the experience with your family, and have a few of the ales…
I’ll just have to settle for the local Belgian gastropub…
Off to Lourdes with HCPT, back Sunday afternoon…
Back and catching up on sleep. Had one really autistic kid who had a tendency to wander about and didn’t get to sleep until about 3am every night…
I’m going to New Jersey for a couple of days for training. I might still have a chance to post, but am not sure…
It surprises me that anyone thinks you could be trained.
Me too. But the negative stimulus of electric shocks reinforced with bottles of lager as reward surely worked…
Broke my collarbone cycling home from work, so typing one-handed for a few weeks. Probably won’t be on here much…
Get you better soon, or we’ll send you over to the Robot Chicken people for some work…
