Id go along with that.
Excellent. I look forward to the opportunity!
stevey 14/88 had ventured back onto the forum, which I don’t see as an encouraging sign despite his innocuous post. http://www.ww2incolor.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8444 If he stays he’ll stir up trouble again.
Given the explanations in various threads provoked by stevey 14/88 about 14/88 standing for neo-Nazi / white supremacists, I’m not happy about stevey having 14/88 in his user name. It advertises a racist and otherwise objectionable current movement without him saying anything more.
It might be argued that user names including, for example, SS (which is in stevey’s avatar) are just as objectionable. But the difference is that they don’t represent a current objectionable and potentially dangerous movement.
The site rules ban hateful and racist material.
I think stevey should be made to drop the 14/88.
Against that, he’ll convert it into a freedom of speech issue etc and the board will get dragged into nonsense, but only if we let it happen.
I think he needs a good kick in the arse to be told what is and isn’t acceptable, and his user name is a good place to start. If he won’t conform then, much as I hate banning people, he goes. It won’t be a loss.
I’m happy to deal with him if other mods agree with my thoughts.
I’m for it! Since Procyon deleted one of Stevey’s 8’s at the picture site, this should affect the forum as well.
And BTW, IMHO his “Sieg Heil” signature could also use a change…
I had thought about that and wondered if I was being a bit too tight in having the same view, but as you’ve offered it spontaneously I’ll go with that too.
I’ll await comment from more experienced mods before I do anything.
BTW, how come stevey has 5 ‘never to expire’ infraction points from Nick but can still post? http://www.ww2incolor.com/forum/member.php?u=7060
What exactly does 5 infraction points do, or not do? I’ve raised this before, but I thought 5 points equalled a ban.
Umm … Slight problem of the “I didn’t think it through properly” variety.
I don’t think a user name can be changed, unless the admins can do it.
Wouldn’t stevey 14/88 need to register again as just stevey?
- The 5 infraction points date back to when we had the power to award all the infraction points we liked, but if someone had made more than 3 posts then nothing would happen. We were trying to keep quiet about that because spammers would think it was Christmas if they twigged to it.
- Pretty sure username can’t be changed.
- If you’re going to change site policy, ensure it’s cleared with everyone and then make sure it’s announced in the rules thread. Setting up a rule just to stop Stevey is only going to cause us problems in the long run - far better to ensure it’s very obviously legit.
An Admin can change a name, Gen S has done it before for Erwin. Ive never been comfortable with Stevey, his avatar or his name.
This isnt an excuse to ban him but Im sure he will give us one in the near future.
Hes one of those guys that cant help it.
This is the third time this spammer has been given 5 infraction points recently. http://www.ww2incolor.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8551
Can we have a perma-ban and IP address ban on him, please?
And here’s another one. http://www.ww2incolor.com/forum/member.php?u=7823
I think it’s time to take radical action against “colonel hogan”. Reason: Next to posting his usual senseless crap (one thread closed by me) he insulted RS* twice in the “Merry Christmas” thread:
http://ww2incolor.com/forum/showpost.php?p=145459&postcount=46
http://ww2incolor.com/forum/showpost.php?p=145460&postcount=47
and some frat boy stuff:
http://ww2incolor.com/forum/showpost.php?p=145471&postcount=17
“colonel hogan” was informally warned by me a couple of weeks ago, I forgot why. I didn’t infract him yet for his latest aberrations, I liked to hear the staff’s opinion first.
I wasn’t aware of his responses to my drunken self-indulgent post until I saw the first and second links above. I couldn’t care less about what colonel hogan says to or about me. His responses were reasonable enough in context and I don’t regard them as insulting, nor am I in the least offended or upset by them. I wouldn’t support any action against him over those comments, because I invited that sort of comment by my unwise personally revealing and self-pitying maudlin post. This is why we should not post when drunk and miserable in the lousy season of goodwill toward all men.
However, since soon after colonel hogan arrived I have been concerned by his general attitude and many worthless posts, some of which can at best be described as bordering on disruptive and trolling.
He needs a swift kick up the arse to try to bring him into line.
He reported a bantering thread untouched for a year as “abusive”, and when I told him to get a life he was very apologetic, scared, and said he was very young. If I can dig it out I’ll post his reply in here.

well, sorry i didn’t freaking know i am only 15!!!
In the interests of trying to curb his youthful and poorly controlled exuberance and to channel it into better behaviour, I’ve given colonel hogan a bit of a harsh foot up the bum at

Today I found out by “accident” that “namvet” and “Moreheaddriller” share an identical IP.
Could there be any technical explanation for this?
The IP Address is: 64.12.116.15
The host name is: cache-mtc-aa11.proxy.aol.com
I would have never thought that one of’em is a fake…
As it’s an AOL address then it almost certainly means they just share the same ISP. AOL run something of a dinosaur of an internet system, so I would just assume that at most they are in the same part of the country.
That will be it. As I wrote - I really could not imagine…
yup. AOL just mixes the IPs around every XX hours.
