SPAMMING PROBLEM

No matter - I’m perfectly capable of ignoring you

Then we’ll get along just fine.

As it’s been running for a fortnight with spam reduced to practically nothing compared with what we had before, it seems to be working very well.

Since I still see Monikers with the tell tale “Location: 1”, should they still be reported? Since I see that some have joined 1-3 months ago but don’t have “banned” under the name. I guess meaning still active.

Don’t bother - the new system deals with it automatically. Mods can still see it, but you won’t.

All hail Procyon!

Cool…very cool! (Now if I only had that for my e-mail)

Does this still count?

Not a spam report but seems some funny guy is putting Five stars to all topics, including someones without answers.

Could you give some links?

Any idea who’s doing it?

No idea

Thanks.

I see what you mean.

Oh, well, it makes everybody’s thread look good, so at least it’s a positive form of trolling / forum busting / spamming for a change.

I’ll do a bit of digging to see if I can identify the culprit.

Yup, it does not made a lot of difference, all my topics are five stars aniway…

Surely an occasional one is only four and a half?

Maybe we just got a new member who hadn’t previously been on a site where there is such an array of WWII historical brilliance, and he was so overwhelmed he just kept hitting the rating button in shock and awe at our wit and knowledge?

lol. feel free to vote 4 then to average it out to a 4 1/2

so nothing’s getting through?

Seems like it.

The occasional one which mods - notably Nickdfresh the Spamblaster Extraordinaire - get rid of but, compared with a few weeks back when we were being flooded, it’s nothing.

Whatever you did has had a great and beneficial effect. Thanks.

There is a persistent spammer from China. I think this is a live person or group that registers a bunch of user-IDs, keeps them on the shelf for a few weeks, then activates them to mass-spam.

I usually get them not long after they register.

I’ll change the system to scan more. Right now it’s set to check the first 30 posts.
