Bonjour

Welcome to the forum Arioviste.

oh well no clue what the hell:twisted:

oh well no clue what the hell

hell today is first for me:twisted:

Howdy all, figured I ought to introduce myself!
My name is Steve, I’m 43,happily married, and have two great sons.
I am addicted to coffee, all things involving WWII history, including WWII 1:35 scale modeling. I am also hopelessly addicted to astronomy, shortwave radio Call of Duty United Offensive, and COD4, as well as fly fishing -any type of fishing really- hunting (deer and wild hog mostly), camping and just being outdoors in general.

I use the name Keystone Two-Eight to honor my Uncle, who enlisted in the Army in 44 at the tender age of 17, and was assigned to the 28th. He went straight from training to the Huertgen forest. Also, the number 28 has even more meaning to me, as I was a Boatswains mate aboard the USS Wainwright CG28
back about twent…well, a few years ago anyway!

Anyway, thats probably enough for now.

Shoot me a pm if you want to know our Call of Duty 4 server IP. We’re mostly a group of “old guy” gamers, current and ex-military and war buffs having a good time online.

Merhaba,
I’m from Istanbul-Turkiye,really interested world war II and i’m here now.

A big welcome to all the new guys in the past few days. I hope you will find the site both interesting and enjoyable and look forward to your posts in forthcoming days.

Do not be afraid to jump right into any conversation as we believe that your contribution is valued no matter what your post count may be.

Cheers.

Hello Arioviste!
Welcome to the Forum!

I just quickly glansed through your blog. Looks interesting.
Just a small note. You have 3 photos in your Russian section that are incorrectly described.
These ones:

These are not comemorative medals. These are just pinbadges. They bare no status like a medal. They were sold as souvenirs in small shops.

Hello guys and dolls, it looks like I am the infamous or famous rollyg. I was a paratrooper in WW2, and I was only 17 when the war ended,. I had three years service by that time. Other than that I also served in Korea with 2RCHA, 1950-51. For you Americans, the H stands for HORSE. (The rest is Royal Canadian Horse Artillery!). No we don’t use Horses now! But neither does your Cavalry! I served mostly with Easy Bty. Dog troop as Sig Bdr. (Bombadeir=a corporal, but senior to). Later I was promoted to Sig. Sgt of Fox Bty. Didn’t last too long before I took sick with the dreaded songo, (haemoragic) fever. I did come through that, and was evacuated home in Jan. of 52
Thanks for letting me join!

Hello,Steve here,never blogged before,just got 1st computer.No fighter was best overall,
low/med/high alt. but the P-51D and TA-152H were the best of the war.USAAF did test
in 43’ (wings/ap mag) P-51 vs Ki-84,at med alt. . At 20,000ft the Ki-84 was only 6 mph faster, but pilots thought if the 84 was built better-engine,outside finish, would be another 20mph faster,…The Ki-84 was 1st to 10,000 ft,then P-51 took over.P-51 was best at top alt on test…P-51 vs Me-109,P-51 had edge at high alt but 109 had sm edge below 10,ooo,not sure but think Me-109 shot down the most planes, thanks,

I am psychic

But honestly, your profile shows your birthday as April 3, 1928. Just a little math to get your age in 1944-45.

My grandfather enlisted in the Dutch Army at age 15, so I am not surprised.

hi all. just got on. as you can see i served in Vietnam. hope this is not a problem. 4 years with the USN. but i could not pass up the chance to be with Vets thats served in my late dad and uncles war. my dad served on a heavy cruiser the USS Philadelphia and my uncle flew black cats and killed U boats. I help provide gunfire support for Marines and the Army in Nam. the fleet, most of it operated out of subic bay. looking fwd to some interesting stories here…Vet
