New members topic- Introduce yourself here:

This absolutely isn’t a problem, and we have a Vietnam forum in the “Other Wars” section…

Welcome.

My name is Alexis, or Utora. I’ve always loved history, mainly the Greeks and Romans since I was a child. I started to really enjoy military history, tactics and combat and the like. I got into the Revolutionary War [American] about 6 years ago, then the Bolshevik Revolution about 3 years ago. From there I studied Russian history, ending up to the Communist Era, then the Germans through school (They don’t teach you -crock- in school…I was forced to dig up the details elsewhere.) WW2 really overwhelmed me… I was intimidated because I knew nothing so I avoided it. Dumb, but I seemingly do that a lot. I got into WW1, then WW2. Since then I can’t stop studying everything about it. So I’m here maybe not post because I’m pretty intimidated, but to learn and read…I’m at college for a History Major and after college I plan on focusing on WW2. That’ll be a few years from now, but I won’t stop learning about it.

So, hello, guten tag and preevet. XD

Welcome Utora. Don’t be intimidated, we’re all students here…

My name is Ethel. I’m new to this site. I’m looking for an answer about Dieppe.

Ethel, this is not the place to be asking questions. I have moved your question here so more people can see it: http://www.ww2incolor.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=48

Also, welcome to the forum!

Hi,

My name is Mike Rose.
I spend a great deal of time reading history and visiting sites such as this.
I really like the color images, they give me a totally different perspective.
Viewing color makes images seem part of real world that I can easily relate to rather than mere photos taken from books which are juxt not the same, color films do the very same thing but even more vividly.

I’m a pathologist located in N. VA in the Metro Wash. DC area.

Regards,
Mike r.

Welcome, Mike! We hope to see more posts from you in the future.

Thanks so much for the quick reply!

I’m an old Army brat. Dad retired as SgtMaj. My first 18 years of life was basic training. Joined USAF in 1964 (Dad thought the future of war was in the air). Retired in 2004 after many long years as both active duty and Civil Service. I was and illustrator and then Multimedia Manager at Keesler AFB Mississippi. I headed the “Warrior Program” at Keesler from 1982 until my retirement. I am an Artist by vocation and a historian/lecturer by avocation.

Good to be aboard.

Hi Mick Grinter
I am new here and have some intrest in ww2 aircraft there are a few around my area.

Welcome Mick and our other newest members,

I hope that you all enjoy the forum.

Am assuming from the 101st patch, you were in the 101st.
Had 13 uncles who served in WWII, one in the 101st was KIA.
Our Family has had members in the Military in every generation, since the Revolution, when 11 boys, sons of Levi Osborne served in the Army and Navy.

New here to the forum .I collect German shell and shellcases and looking for any related information about it. As long it’s brass, German made, and more then 20 pounds in weight, it’s welcom here!

Hi Thekees! Do you have any german shell pictures you can post for us in this forum?

Hi Thekees,

Welcome to the site, I’m a new member myself. Great source of pictures here.

Re: “Collecting”. I have been collecting US Civil War militaria for a good while, including artillery projectiles. Occasionally, I collect the odd WWII piece when it represents a major 20th Century technical advance.
I have always been interested in obtaining a complete 88mm shell (as opposed to just the brass casing, deactivated of course). Could you tell me where I might obtain one and perhaps provide some idea of approximate price, if you please.

Thank you, and again, welcome to site.

Regards,
Mike r.

Hello out there
I’m Sam I am new to this forum. I like all history, my name Albatrosdva is a German WWI airplane, one of Richtofen’s favorites. I got on this forum for research purposes and I like to learn new things.

Would you be interested in a copy of a Picture of Benjamin Flag, one of my ancestors on my grandmothers side, was awarded a Medal of Honor. The flag he carried in the Civil War is now held in the Boston State House. It is included in his picture. However due to the condition, only family members can see it now. It used to be in the Hall of Flags in the Rotunda.

We also have one of William Osborne my grandfathers ancestor, was also awarded the Medal of Honor. But it is a much later picture, not in uniform, taken when he was a Judge.
