Amen to that.

Hi fellow forum users. I am trying to cover some family history, I have been trying with not many results to get some more information on my late father Alfred Joseph Walker SX317719, who served with the 2/27 Australian Infantry battalion in New guinea in WW2, does any one have any photos of this unit, or other information. thanks

Dianne

Naval Construction Battalion 8 landed on Iwo Jima during the second phase. Anyone have a good source that would give specific information of their role?

Perhaps to re-construct the airfield for heavy bombers like b-29 . But i am not sure . Perhaps it would be better to post a thread up in the “American Military” and maybe more would check it out so if anyone is aware of might send any info

Just wanted to say Hi to ya all.
I’ve been browsing this site almost everyday cus I’m just facinated by WWII in all ways. Somehow I can’t get enough of it. I guess at least some of you have the same dilema, if you can call it that

Welcome aboard to all the newbies. Hope you all enjoy the forums and become regulars to the site!

I have been interested in WWII for as long as I can remember but I really got involved when my step father died and left me a Kriegsmarine officer’s dagger which his father took from a captured officer off the island of Silt during the war (I don’t know what year). I am now a keen collector of daggers, swords and helmets and I have a full display cabinet in my house. I have traveled quite a lot visiting WWII historical sites. I have visited Auschwitz, Oscar Schindler’s house and factory and the ghetto in Kracow, the Ann Frank house in Amsterdam, the museums and sites of interest in France, Italy, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria etc. and I was at the 65th anniversary of the D Day landings in Normandy last June. I have a full library of DVDs covering everything to do with the war and hundreds of books on the subject. I look forward to sharing thoughts, opinions and information with other like-minded people. Thanks.

Hello I found your site in a google search and decided to join!

Hello Everyone,
I am looking for information on the 24th during WWII. If anyone has information about my father Edward F. Klausch. He passed when I was very young and have found some articles that I can identify.

24th What, from what country?

I am squeaky new here - have not a clue how to navigate but then again I never did. What am I doing here? Hopefully not indulging in old memories. My Dad built F-105’s for what was then called Republic Aviation, based in Farmingdale, Long Island. When I was 9years old, he took me to see a test flight of the fighter-bomber. I’ll never forget the feeling I had watching that beautiful bird take off. Didn’t get to see much after that since most of the test flight was over water at sound+ speed. I guess you could say it was THE DAY that determined the course of my life. I fell in love that day and have remained faithful despite the premature demise of the Thunderchief.

Hello to all.

Hello! My name is Billy Levine, but William is okay on the ground. The instrumentation here has me a bit confused. Well, if you’re giving me afterburners, I might as well use them. Here we go! Okay…I get it.

I am supremely new here and I guess it will take some time before I learn to navigate these pages. I may be an old dog, but I still learn new tricks, so any advice or feedback is welcomed.

My father worked for Fairchild when they were Republic Aviation. I think he worked on bombay assembly. Anyway, he took me outside one day (I think I was 9 years-old at the time) to watch the F-105 Thunderchief go through basic maneuvers. My love affair began that day, and it hasn’t cooled off since. The F-105 was one beautiful bird, wasn’t she? Too bad that it took so long for Republic to deliver. The sleek fighter-bomber never saw much action, as it rolled out after the Korean War and Sabers were the rage back then.

Well, I don’t want to ramble on here - just wanted to say hello and wow…I really think I like it here. I’ve had my fill of political hate blogging and to tell you the truth I had given up trying to find a user friendly site. Guess I got lucky - again!

I’ve always had an irrational fear of things like Disney characters, so I think I’ll stay clear of the…oh, what the heck…Rotate

24th was from the usa

Hello everyone,

I found the site after the usual Google search. I am a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, and I’ve been an avid history freak for as long as I can remember. I am interested particularly in WWII, and like most folks, I have a family history with the conflict. I am an avid scale modeler (though not a good one), and I collect surplus military firearms. The photo section is what initially attracted me to the site, and I’ve come to appreciate the knowledge many of the members on here have. I hope to add to the conversations soon. Thanks!

Hey guys, welcome here!

welcome guy. im sort of in the same boat with you. ive done some modeling myself. although not nearly as much as i used to.

24th battalion navy sea bees during wwII. S S President Johnson. Anyone have information of Edward F. Klausch. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Everyone,

Professionally I’m a makeup artist and stylist but I’m also a fashion historian. I’ve joined this forum for a couple of reasons. I used to fly privately and I love airplanes because they’re beautiful and very sexy. Anyone with a little money can own and drive a car but how many of us can say the same about a vintage warbird?

I’m also very interested in the roles women have played in aviation and the military, particularly the RCAF and other Commonwealth air forces. I hope that this forum will prove to be a source of information for the Flights of Fancy category of Alexandra Highcrest Magazine, which I edit and write for.

I also hope to make friends with like-minded people.

Ciao for now.

I am the offspring of a veteran of the 106th Infantry Division. I have been engaged in research about the division history for several years. I now co-facilitate a division message board that was started by Jim West.
