[i]That’s okay. Surf some other military sites, find some pictures, and load them in. That is , if you want to. Otherwise there are plenty of others that do models, and like to comment on pictures already uploaded. You can learn a lot from some of these members, and they are happy to answer questions.

Thanks-I’m sure i’ll find some and upload them!

Hi to all.
Well I am new to this site. Can some body let me know what types of ammo were used during WWII and specifically in Sherman Tanks?

Sherman 75mm, HE, AP, SMOKE
Sherman 76mm, HE, AP, SMOKE
Sherman 105mm, HE
Sherman Firefly, HE, AP, APDS

Type into Google, Wikipeadia has a big Sherman page. Good luck!

Thanks a ton. I have gone through the wikipedia but the info is limited specially about ammo.
Thanks once a again.

There’s a very good book, called ‘Sherman, the history’, by Hunnicut. You’ll find all the info there. Alternatively, Aberdeen museum, has a big website and it’s open to all. Have a look and good luck!

Read ‘The house built on Sand’, by G. Reitlinger. Nazi policy in occupied Russia, an excellent book.

You could do a lot worse than visit the Tank museum in Bovington, Dorset. Good website as well!

Isn’t that what you asked for?

Welcome, Ritz. I see that your question has already been answered.

You might also read “Tyranny on Trial”, by Whitney R. Harris

Have you read ‘The Kersten Memoirs’ ? He was Himmler’s personal masseur, yet his book is a fascinating insight into the thought-processes of one of the most powerful men in the Nazi hierarchy. My copy is the 1st edition, with embossed SS runes on the spine. Quite a rarity, actually.

Hi all
I am new to the site and I am involved with the RASC/RCT association in Manchester UK.
Although I am classed as a veteran and born 1947 I am not old enough for personal experience of WW2, I get a lot of requests for information from relatives who had family members serve in this conflict with the RASC.
They have received paperwork from the records office in Glasgow but are looking to "fine tune " the information they have received. They are looking for their parents family members details ,Items like the beach on which they landed on D DAY?, where they served during the war?, information regarding the companies/battalions/brigades they served with? etc.
I hope that members of this site will be able to assist me in assisting them find the information they are looking for. I hope I am not out of order with this.
Many thanks

Welcome, mrf-bucks. There are a lot of experienced members here who will be glad to help. I hope you will enjoy the experience as much as I have.

I wouldn’t worry about that when you’re dealing with serious and or sensible military issues.

This is a very relaxed site with very relaxed moderators as long as people stay half way on military topics in the military sections. And even then we’re fairly relaxed about diversions.

Hello, I am a new member and would like to locate any Marine from the 1st Marine unit on Guadalcanal. My father-in-law, Nicholas “Nickie” Marcellino (deceased 11 years ago) was on the island, awarded two purple hearts. Any info??? Thanks, Rick Sharp

Welcome to the fun. The site is very informative and fun.

I am not actually new around here but i did leave this forum for a long long time. As a former admin and moderator, i will stay a little bit longer than last time.

Hello FW-190 pilot. Not a pilot, but I do like the warplanes, especially the F-51, ME-109, and your FW-109. I was an artilleryman on the ground. I did work as a golf marshall, after retiring, with a very fine older gentleman that had piloted the ME 109. :army:
